An introduction to personal development and progression ladders

This unit introduces the concept of progression as a ladder. Pupils are more likely to be interested in climbing the ladder if they are equipped with information about what each rung of the ladder entails and will be more likely to have aspirations to succeed if they have some sort of goal at the top of their ladder.

This unit provides information about the stages that pupils can climb through and to. It offers information about alternative, vocational pathways that will be the preferred route of many pupils.

This session could be used in conjunction with choosing options in year 9. Some schools are planning to use these materials to provide information to parents at a year 9 options evening either as a talk or as a wall display.
