Confident speaking, effective listening and personal presentation skills in an interview setting.

This unit can be used alone or as a natural extension of unit 4 or 5. Pupils look at the admission process and understand the expectations that HEIs will have of them.

Working in sub groups where they share a common HEI interest pupils think about the admission criteria and what the admissions tutor would require. The end activity is a group mock interview with the opportunity for peer group evaluation.

This is less about interview technique and more about preparation and understanding the demands of the selection process itself. Interviewing in groups is time effective, fun and less stressful for the pupils. It provides a valuable opportunity for pupils to overview the application process, organise their thoughts for their personal statement and engage in team work.
